Frontiers of Materials Research: A Decadal Survey

Date:
Tuesday, March 12, 2019
Time:
12:15 p.m. to 1:15 p.m.
Location:
Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, Room 221D

This session offers a brief overview of the new report from the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine, Frontiers of Materials Research: A Decadal Survey. The report identifies promising future directions for federal agencies that support materials research, science policymakers, and researchers in materials research and other fields. Following a summary of the report, several members of the study committee and other leading materials researchers will discuss their vision for the next ten years of the field during a panel discussion.

TMS members provided their input to the report at a town hall meeting held at the TMS 2017 Annual Meeting & Exhibition in Orlando, Florida; a summary of that discussion can be found here. The survey can be downloaded for free through the National Academies website.
