Additive Manufacturing Materials and Processes Workshop

THIS COURSE HAS BEEN CANCELLED FOR TMS FALL 2023

Additive manufacturing (AM) has become popular in the last few years, although seminal developments took place 25–30 years ago. The purpose of this workshop is to familiarize participants with AM processes and enable them to explore further to address their specific industry needs and leverage research opportunities. We will begin with providing an overview of current AM processes for metals, polymers, and ceramics; followed by a focused discussion on metal AM including powder bed fusion and directed energy deposition processes; and concluding with industry practices and needs. The discussions will highlight current challenges and research opportunities.

This workshop is designed for people in the materials and manufacturing community who want to learn more about AM processes. Academics and researchers will also benefit from discussions about current challenges to the full adoption of AM. Participants will become familiar with current AM processes and future directions.
