Benchmark Structural Ceramics Corp., has substituted the use of sintered silicon
nitride and sialon parts utilized in molten aluminum handling and service with Bensal,
an advanced sialon bonded ceramic composite. The new product is completely non-wetting,
with good thermal conductivity, and over 1,000°C thermal shock capacity. Its
unique microstructure allows for hundreds of repeated immersions in molten metal
straight from room temperature, with no preheating necessary.
