Date: Wednesday, March 5, 2003 Location: San Diego Marriott Hotel & Marina, Cardiff Room Time: 6:00 PM–9:30 PM Sponsored by: TMS Structural Materials Division The 3rd International Symposium on Gamma Titanium Aluminides (ISGTA-3) will provide a forum to share the progress and achievements toward application of gamma TiAl alloys, with emphasis on results made since the ISGTA-2 conference. ISGTA -1 (1995) and ISGTA-2 (1999) were quoted as, perhaps, two of the most successful symposia held in conjunction with TMS meetings. The communication and reporting have proven fruitful for stimulating and steering future research and development of engineering gamma alloys, helping gamma alloy technology advance to another level. Cast gamma alloys are on the stage of production (readiness) starting with gamma turbocharger rotors (first application) implemented in high performance automotive engines, while wrought alloys are undergoing production scale-up for application-specific mill products (with some applications beginning to be realized). Further, progress continues to be made in the identification of new high-performance and high-temperature compositions. Significant advances have also been made in fundamental understanding during this period. Banquet tickets are $60.00 and may be purchased at the TMS Conference Registration Desk.
