Welcome to the Integrating Design, Manufacturing, and Materials Models Webcast

TMS (The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society) and SAE (The Society of Automotive Engineers) are proudly sponsoring this telephone/webcast, which will be held live via the web, on September 22, 2005 at 11:30 am to 1:30 pm EST.

ABOUT THE TOPIC

Integrating design, manufacturing, and materials models to develop and optimize products and processes offers the potential for significant reductions in design cycle time, improved quality, and reduced cost. While linkage of models across processes and length scales is an obvious step in the evolution of virtual design and manufacturing, only recently has it been demonstrated in actual, commercially-relevant applications.

Through this telephone/webcast, learn about successful case studies in the automotive and aerospace markets where significant savings in product development time and cost are being realized. Presenters discuss the key concepts, the implementation process, and benefits along with lessons learned. Audience members are also encouraged to share their viewpoints.

ACHIEVE THESE OBJECTIVES

  • Develop an awareness of approaches taken to integrate design, manufacturing, and materials models
  • Understand specific modeling methods and integration strategies, including software packages
  • Summarize successful methods used in automotive and aerospace applications with different materials
  • Analyze reductions in design cycle time, improvement in quality, and reduction in cost possible with an integrated approach
  • Evaluate the potential benefits of this approach for specific applications and environments

WHO SHOULD JOIN THE BROADCAST

  • Component suppliers, product development managers or engineers
  • CAE managers or analysts
  • OEM chief engineers, product development managers, product development engineers, manufacturing engineers, materials engineers
  • National laboratory program managers or members of technical staff
  • University professors, center directors, or research engineers
  • Software development managers or technical marketing directors
