The International Symposium on Zinc and Lead Metallurgy (part of the Conference of Metallurgists 2008 - COM2008) aims to bring together experts from industry, engineering firms, and academia to discuss the latest developments in the metallurgical processing of zinc and lead. The symposium, which will build on the success of the Zinc and Lead Processing meeting held 10 years ago in Canada, as part of COM1998 in Calgary, will focus on the hydrometallurgy and pyrometallurgy of zinc and lead.

This meeting is the continuation of the international conference series on hydrogen effects in materials. Previous conferences in this series were held in 1973, 1975, 1980, 1989, 1994, and 2002. Convened once every four years since 1968, this symposium presents the most recent technical information on a class of high-strength, high-temperature alloys commonly known as superalloys. Multiscale modeling of materials is a major materials science field that attracts a wide range of scientists and engineers from academia, R&D laboratories and industries.
