ABOUT PITTSBURGH

Forbes Magazine has once again named Pittsburgh its "Most Livable City" in its annual report released in May 2010 that looks at cost of living, unemployment rate, income growth and crime rates, among other factors. In June 2009, Pittsburgh was ranked the No. 1 city in the United States by The Economist magazine.

Pittsburgh has become a truly unique and beautiful American city. Rugged hillsides shelter a new wave of high-tech and service industries, along with pioneering health systems and universities. Befitting its reputation as one of America’s most livable cities, Pittsburgh boasts a low crime rate and abundant tax-free shopping at great prices. The city offers a wonderful combination of big-city amenities and small-town feel.

Pittsburgh offers opportunities to suit everyone’s tastes. From upscale downtown department stores to suburban shopping malls and eclectic neighborhood boutiques, visitors find plenty of places to exercise their spending power. Even more appealing to shoppers is having no sales tax on clothing and other necessities. For dining, the city’s diverse ethnic heritage inspires and influences the flavors found at a wide range of restaurants running from casual to five-star.
