Welcome to the Fourth Int'l Very High Cycle Fatigue Conference (VHCF-4)

Announcing the fourth in a series of international conferences focusing on the latest very high cycle fatigue research

To be held on the campus of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan, August 19-22, 2007.

This conference is being organized and sponsored by TMS, and hosted by the University of Michigan.

HISTORY OF THIS CONFERENCE

The first international conference focusing on the fatigue of structural materials in the long life regime was organized by Professor C. Bathias and held as “Fatigue Life in the Gigacycle Regime” on June 29-July 1, 1998 in Paris.

The second conference in this series was organized by professors S.E. Stanzl-Tschegg and H. Mayer and held as “Fatigue in the Very High Cycle Regime” on July 2-4, 2001 in Vienna.

At that time, it was agreed that the conference would be held every three years under the name “Very High Cycle Fatigue.”

Thus, the Third International Conference of Very High Cycle Fatigue (VHCF-3) was held on September 16-19, 2004 in Kyoto/Kusatsu, Japan, organized by professors T. Sakai and Y. Ochi, and sponsored by the Society of Materials Science, Japan (JSMS), the Research Group for Statistical Aspect of Materials Strength (RGSAMS), and Ritsumeikan University.
