EMPHASIS AGAIN ON CORE RESEARCH PROGRAMS AT NIST
The President’s proposal is for an 11 percent increase in the core (laboratory) programs at NIST, while once again asking only minimally funding the Hollins Manufacturing Extension Program and zeroing out the Advanced Technology Program. It proposes five new initiatives including Enabling Nanotechnology from Discovery to Manufacture; Measurements and Standards for the Climate Change Science Program; Enabling Innovation through Quantum Science; Disaster Resilient Structures and Communities; and the National Earthquake Reduction Program. Lab-by-lab detailed spending proposals were not available at our press time. |
