ANOTHER STUDY SUPPORTS R&D INVESTMENT
The American Academy of Arts and Sciences has weighed in on the need for “targeted efforts by federal agencies and universities to support new investigators and high-risk, high-reward research.” Without recommending specific levels of funding, the paper proposes targeted grants and seed funding programs for early-career faculty and formalized mentoring for young scientists. Each federal agency should re-evaluate its peer review systems and systematically track demographic data on investigators, the paper concludes. |
