TMS Logo Recipients: The 2000 EPD Extraction & Processing Technology Award

The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society's Extraction & Processing Division Extraction & Processing Technology Award was established in 1955 and recognizes a paper containing notable contributions to the advancement of the technology of the extraction and processing of nonferrous metals.
Paper Title: “A Pilot-Scale Trial of an Improved Galvanic Deoxidation Process for Refining Molten Copper” (Metallurgical and Materials Transactions B, vol. 30B, April 1999)

Uday B. Pal

Biography: Uday B. Pal is an associate professor in the College of Engineering at Boston University. He earned his B.S. from the Indian Institute of Technology in 1980 and his Ph.D. in 1984 from Pennsylvania State University, both in metallurgy. He has authored or coauthored more than 90 technical publications and holds 17 patents. Dr. Pal has received several awards.

Harold R. Larson

Biography: Harold R. Larson is a research associate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He earned his B.S. in chemical engineering from Tufts University in 1963 and his Ph.D. in 1967 at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in metallurgy. He has also held positions at Asarco, Exxon Minerals Company, and Prototech, Inc.

B. Schroeder

Biography: B. Schroeder is director of the Reading Tube Corporation.
