Quote: “I have been very much honored with the present TMS Leadership award, and I am sure that I shall not forget this moment for the rest of my life. My recent contacts with TMS were the publication of JOM Vol.49, No.6 (1997) or during the 1994 annual meeting by giving my talk on behalf of the Japan Institute of Metals at the first symposium sponsored by the TMS International Activities Committee. The meetings are a great place to interact with many colleagues and exchange mutual interest. TMS is an important part of my professional activities. I think we have to pay particular attention to material processing for the 21st century harmonized with nature. We should try to create new activities covering the field of resources conservation and environmental protection, as well as advanced materials science and engineering.”
