Hans Conrad
Citation: "For having laid down the foundation for the mechanisms controlling
dislocation motion in BCC and HCP Metals."
Biography: Hans Conrad is professor emeritus at the materials science
and engineering department of North Carolina State University.
He received his B.S. in metallurgical engineering from the Carnegie
Institute of Technology in 1943, and his M.S. and Ph.D. from Yale University
in metallurgy in 1951 and 1956, respectively. Dr. Hans was chairman
of the department of metallurgical engineering and associate director
of the Institute for Mining and Minerals Research at the University
of Kentucky, and also held positions with The Franklin Institute, Aerospace
Corporation, Westinghouse, and the University of California.
He has authored or co-authored over 350 scientific papers, and is the
recipient of numerous awards and honors.
