Recipient: 2002 Aluminum Distinguished Service Award



The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society's Aluminum Distinguished Service Award established in 1995, recognizes an individual whose continuous service to the Light Metals Division's Aluminum Committee activities has facilitated the Society's ability to serve its aluminum-oriented members and their supporting organizations.

Citation: "For significant contributions to the Aluminum Committee and dedication to education and training for the benefit of the aluminum industry and TMS."

Biography: James W. Evans is a professor of metallurgy at the University of California, Berkeley. He earned a B.S. in chemistry from the University of London in 1964 and a Ph.D. from the State University of New York in 1970. He has authored more than 250 publications, including three books, and holds seven patents.
