Recipients: The 2002 LMD Light Metals Technical Service Award



The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society's Light Metals Division's Light Metals Technical Service Award, established in 1995, recognizes an individual who has demonstrated outstanding long-term service to the light metals industry by consistently providing technical and/or operating knowledge that has enhanced the competitiveness of the industry.

Recipient PhotoChris M. Bickert

Citation: "For leadership in furthering the technical progress of the aluminum industry through the TMS Light Metals Division and for fostering its international scope. "

Biography: Chris M. Bickert is a consultant with Aluminium Pechiney. He earned a B.S. and M.S. at Ecole Nationale Superieure de Chimie de Paris.

Mr. Bickert has served as president of the TMS Aluminum Committee in 1990, as editor of the 1990 Light Metals proceedings, and as a JOM advisor for this committee.


Quote: “I have been a member of TMS for 18 years; I find it essential to be a part of it in order to fulfill my duties in aluminum technology. I am very proud of the great honor TMS is bestowing on me with this award. I plan to continue to participate in TMS events, trying to accomplish as much as I can for the development and the networking absolutely necessary in our industry.”
