Recipients: 2003 Light Metals Division JOM Best Paper Award



The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society's Light Metals Division JOM Best Paper Award, established in 1994, is presented to the author(s) of a paper published in an issue of the preceding volume year of JOM under a light metals-related technical topic.
Paper Title: Paper: “Visualizing Gas Evolution on Graphite and Oxygen-Evolving Anodes” in the May, 2002 issue of JOM.


Recipient PhotoLaurent Cassayre

Biography: Laurent Cassayre is a Ph.D. student at Laboratoire de Genie Chimique. He earned a B.S. and M.S. in analytical chemistry at Ecole Superieune de Physique et Chimie Industrielle in 1999 and 2000, respectively.

Recipient PhotoTorstein A. Utigard

Biography: Torstein A. Utigard is a professor at the University of Toronto in materials science and engineering. He earned a B.S. in Natural Science and an M.S. in Physical Chemistry from the Oslo University in 1979 and 1981, respectively. He also earned an M.S. and Ph.D. in metallurgy from the University of Toronto in 1983 and 1985, respectively. Prof. Utigard has published over 100 papers in scientific and technical journals and graduated more than 15 masters and Ph.D. students. Recipient of the 1997 TMS Light Metals Award and the 1993 CIM Light Metals Best Paper Award.

Recipient PhotoSylvie Bouvet

Biography: Sylvie Bouvet is senior research team manager at Pechiney Research & Development Center. She earned a B.S. at Ecole Nationale Superieure Chimie Paris in 1983 and a Ph.D. in physical sciences from Paris VI in 1986. She has co-authored many articles for technical publications.
