Biography: Michel Allibert is a consultant in pyrometallurgy. He
was affiliated with the National Center for Scientific Research from
1964 until his retirement early in 2002. His experiment-based research
on hightemperature liquids has included thermodynamic properties of mixing
of slags and fluxes; modeling and mass spectrometric measurements; chemical
exchanges in pyrometallurgical processes involving liquid metal and slags
for applications in steel, copper, and aluminum industries; and mass or
material transfer between liquid metals and molten salts in the treatment
of nuclear fuels or wastes.

Biography: Pierre Le Brun is a research engineer in the melting
and casting research unit of Pechiney CRV. He received the Belgium Aluminium
Association Award in 1993.
