Recipients: The 2004 LMD Light Metals Technical Service Award



The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society's Light Metals Division's Light Metals Technical Service Award, established in 1995, recognizes an individual who has demonstrated outstanding long-term service to the light metals industry by consistently providing technical and/or operating knowledge that has enhanced the competitiveness of the industry.

Recipient PhotoMichel Reverdy

Citation: "For his contribution to potline operation development as well as teaching and industrial application to the Hall-Heroult Process."

Biography: Michel Reverdy is general manager, smelter technical supervision, Aluminium Pechiney. He received his engineering degree from Ecole Centrale de Paris and his M.S. in metallurgy and materials science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has more than 30 years experience in aluminium smelting, including electrolysis research, Soderberg potline operation, prebaked potline operation, smelter technology transfer, potline start-up, set-up of a technical training organization at the company level, technical supervision of smelters, and smelter research decisions.
