The LMD JOM Best Paper Award, established in 1994,
recognizes an individual whose continuous service to TMS Light Metals Division activities has clearly facilitated the Society’s capability to serve its light metals-oriented members and their supporting organizations.

Udo M.J. Boin is a professor emeritus in Germany and a senior consultant to the largest European secondary aluminum smelter.
He began his 38-year-career after earning a degree in nonferrous metallurgy from the Technical University of Aachen. |
Marlen Bertram is the manager of recycling for the European Aluminium Association and the Organisation for European Aluminium Refiners and Remelters.
She works to position the European aluminium industry with regard to recycling qualification, improve the knowledge of recycling rates, scrap flows and scrap statistics, and provides consultation within end-use markets. She is also working on her doctorate. |
