The Champion H. Mathewson Award, established in 1933, is presented to an author(s) of a paper, or series of closely related papers, considered the most notable contribution to metallurgical science during the period under review.

Biography: K.S. Ravi Chandran is a professor in the Metallurgical Engineering Department at the University of Utah, and director of the Utah State Center of Excellence in Titanium Boride Materials.
Dr. Chandran is also co-editor of a collection of papers on Titanium Boron Alloys and Composites published in JOM in 2004.
