The SMD Distinguished Scientist/Engineer Award, established in 1996,
recognizes an individual who has made a long-lasting contribution to the fundamental understanding of microstructure, properties and performance of structural materials for industrial applications.
Citation:
For outstanding basic and applied research contributions to the thermomechanical processing of both conventional and emerging aerospace structural materials.

Biography:
S. Lee Semiatin is a senior scientist with the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio.
