Honors and Awards

The mission of TMS is to promote the global science and engineering professions concerned with minerals, metals, and materials.

Recipient: 2011 John Bardeen Award

The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society's John Bardeen Award, established in 1994, recognizes an individual who has made outstanding contributions and is a leader in the field of electronic materials.

Recipient: Stephen Pearton

For pioneering advances in the science and application of advanced electronic and photonic device fabrication techniques for compound semiconductor devices used in cell phones, wireless communication systems, collision-avoidance radar, high density DVDs, satellite systems, wireless local area networks, GPS, broad-band satellite services and automotive radar-smart-cruise control, traffic lights and other displays.

Stephen Pearton is a Professor at the University of Florida, located in Gainesville, FL, USA.
