Recipient PhotoRecipients: Subodh K. Das, John A.S. Green

Paper Title:
“Aluminum Industry and Climate Change—Assessment and Responses”, Feb. 2010 JOM

Quote:
“Most of my professional contacts and friendships have been developed, nurtured and sustained as a direct result of my 35+ years of TMS memberships via active participation during various venues such as annual meetings attendance, presenting papers, organizing and chairing sessions and volunteering time for committee assignments and board membership. I have changed companies, positions and affiliations and yet TMS has been a constant source for providing career, professional and business advancements tools for me. Publishing in JOM is a great way to reach and share knowledge & thoughts with my global colleagues. We are very honored by this award as our intent was to make a contribution by writing an objective paper to assess the situation, describe the challenges & opportunities and suggest an actionable path forward to enhance the sustainability of the global aluminum/aluminium industry.” -- Subodh Das

Recipient Photo “I have been a member of TMS since 1972, and I have always found it to be a great place to meet new people and catch up with old friends. The Annual meeting is especially useful for those interested in the light metals as recent developments are covered so thoroughly for aluminum and magnesium. It is easy to learn about new developments from industry or the latest research from academia. For me, this JOM Best Paper Award is quite special –it is good to feel one can still make a contribution some 10 years after retiring for the second time!” --John Green
