INDIVIDUAL MEMBER REQUIREMENTS
A candidate for election as member shall be actively involved with materials science, materials engineering, and/or application. Annual or lifetime memberships are available in these categories:
- FULL MEMBER CATEGORY
- Candidate must hold a baccalaureate degree from a recognized university in metallurgy, metallurgical engineering, materials science, materials engineering, or another science or engineering discipline related to the field.
- OR candidate must have at least five (5) years experience and be a practicing professional in materials science and engineering or a closely related field.
- ASSOCIATE MEMBER CATEGORY
While not possessing the academic or technical experience of a professional member, the associate member is active in fields that are sufficiently related to the advancement of materials science and engineering and its affiliated industries.
Reflecting an achieved rank with the society, a senior member is a professional of vast experience both within the field and within TMS. Senior membership is open to individuals whose age and continuous years of TMS membership, when added together equal 100 or more, or retired professionals age 65 (or older) with 30+ years of continuous membership in TMS.

INTERNATIONAL e-MEMBER REQUIREMENTS
TMS offers the low-cost, reduced-benefit International e-Membership to individuals who live outside of the United States and Canada and who work in a materials science and engineering or related field. All benefits associated with this level of membership are provided via the Internet. The membership fee is $60USD; however, the membership fee for individuals who reside in economically qualified countries, (as well as members of Materials Australia and the South African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy) is $25USD.

RECENT GRADUATE PROFESSIONAL MEMBER REQUIREMENTS
Membership for recent graduates is a program designed to make TMS membership affordable during the early career year while providing you with all the benefits and
advantages available to a member of TMS.
To be eligible, you must have graduated from a recognized university with a baccalaureate degree (or higher) in materials science, materials engineering, metallurgy, metallurgical engineering, or another science or engineering discipline related to the field within one year of the date of applying for membership. If applying within one year of graduation date, membership dues are $0; If applying within 2 or 3 years of graduation date, membership dues are reduced by 50%. You also must not be eligible for student membership.

STUDENT MEMBER REQUIREMENTS

The Material Advantage Student Program provides a single, low-cost membership that provides access to the materials science and engineering profession's most preeminent societies: ACerS, AIST, ASM International, and TMS. Any student currently enrolled in a
post-secondary institution majoring in the field of materials science &
engineering or a related engineering discipline is eligible to join Material
