NOMINATION TIMELINE

AWARD DEADLINE: APRIL 1st
  • April: Nominations and required supporting documents are due.
  • June: Appointed award committees review nominations and make selections.
  • November: Award recipients and principal nominators are notified of their selection.
  • February: Awards are presented at the TMS Annual Meeting.

Awards listed under "Other Awards" may have separate nomination deadlines, as indicated.

Professional Recognition Program

TMS award winners constitute some of the most deserving recipients and the recognition of outstanding accomplishments by members of the international minerals, metals, and materials community is one of the primary objectives of TMS. In the society's view, the bestowment of honors and awards is necessary to not only reward distinguished performance by a scientist or engineer but to encourage his or her colleagues to strive toward the same--and perhaps a greater--level of distinction.

AWARD NOMINATION PROCESS

Since many great works often go unnoticed or duly recognized, the society helps to bring these achievements to light through the nomination process. Open submissions of award nominations have been the long-standing method, and to increase the possibility of further recognition, some TMS awards may be tracked up to a societal or pinnacle award. The award descriptions below also include a list of the higher honors winners may seek. Nominators will be advised of eligible award(s) for their candidate. Modifications, but not complete revisions, will be accepted for candidates with a reasonable chance of winning.

How to submit an Award Nomination
To submit an award nomination, review the descriptions and criteria below and download the Nomination Form (PDF) which contains a complete explanation of each award, then fax or mail with the required supporting papers.
