TMS Accreditation Committee Bylaws

1. Interact with ABET on the EAC, TAC, and the ABET Board on behalf of the Society.
   
2. Maintain current program criteria to be used by ABET in accreditation of materials area programs at academic institutions.
   
3. Recruit, instruct and evaluate qualified ABET evaluators for materials area programs assigned to the Society. A recommended list to be submitted to the Society Board of Directors each Annual Meeting.

Committee Structure
Membership in the Accreditation Committee is limited to those individuals directly involved in the accreditation activities of TMS as either program evaluators, ABET commission members, or ABET Board of Directors Representatives.

Term of Office
Chair: Senior TMS member of the EAC
Vice Chair: Next Senior member
Secretary: Least Senior member of the EAC or qualified evaluator

Terms of Office
5 year maximum; reappointed annually

Meeting Schedule
The committee shall meet twice yearly; at the Annual and Fall meetings of the Society. Attendance at a committee meeting is required a minimum of every two years.
