Rice University. She earned an M.S.
degree in high-temperature creep in
superplastic ceramics from the University
of California, San Diego. She earned
her Ph.D. with a dissertation on the kinetics
of recrystallization in adiabatic shear
bands in metals. Upon graduation, Hines
studied high-cycle fatigue in titanium
alloys as a post-doctoral researcher at the
Technical University Hamburg-Harburg
in Hamburg, Germany.
In her TMS activities, Hines has served
as vice chair of the TMS Global Innovations
Committee, chair of the Solidification Committee, and as an active
