The mission of TMS is to promote the global science and engineering professions concerned with minerals, metals, and materials.
Eric Taleff Director/Chair, SMD
Eric Taleff is an associate professor
in the Department of Mechanical Engineering
at the University of Texas at
Austin and is a member of the graduate
studies committee in materials science
and engineering. He teaches and conducts research in
mechanical behavior
and processing
of structural materials.
Taleff holds
B.S. degrees in
mechanical engineering
and materials
science from
Rice University and an M.S. in materials
science and engineering and Ph.D. in
mechanical engineering from Stanford
University.
Taleff has received a National
Science Foundation CAREER Award,
the Texas Excellence Teaching Award
for the College of Engineering, the
College of Engineering Award for
Outstanding Engineering Teaching by
an assistant professor, and the Charlotte
Maer Patton Centennial Fellowship in
Engineering. He has authored and coauthored
more than 50 refereed technical
publications.
At TMS, he has been an active member
of the TMS Structural Materials Division
Council and has served as an advisor
to JOM from the Structural Materials
Committee.
