It is with great excitement that I welcome the Boston Section of TMS members to a new year of events and activities designed to bring you up-to-date information in the diverse fields of minerals, metals, and materials and provide a forum for building upon your networking and professional skills. The 2005-2006 season of the Boston Section of TMS began with a bang on Tuesday, October 4, 2005, with the presentation by Mr. Charles Reade of Reade Advanced Materials on the topic of "Preventing Dust Explosions in Inorganic Powder Environments." One of the things I enjoyed about this joint meeting between TMS and APMI was the open Q&A with industry experts in handling flammable and combustible metal powders. The 2005-2006 schedule includes 8 unique and interesting meeting topics. These meetings range from dinner engagements with a guest speaker to plant tours. I encourage everyone to attend and feel free to invite guests. In closing, there are also many opportunities within the Boston Section of TMS get involved by taking a position on the Executive Committee or Chairing a Subcommittee. Please see me or one of the other Executive Committee members about these opportunities. Have a great year! Samuel A. Davis, P.E. Samuel A. Davis, P.E.
