This story appears in The Minerals,
Metals & Materials Society's student newsletter Professional
Preface, vol. 7, no. 1, p. 1.
Don’t forget to continue your professional affiliation in the materials field
upon graduation through the TMS Automatic Junior Program. Upon graduation, students
may obtain full TMS membership through December 31, 2000, at no cost. For the
next two years, the cost of membership is $55.00 per year instead of the standard
member fee. Additionally, automatic junior membership entitles the member to
one complimentary book from a list made available through the American Institute
of Mining, Metallurgical, and Petroleum Engineers’ Seeley W. Mudd Fund.
If you graduated in December 1999 or will be graduating in the spring of 2000
and do not intend to go on to graduate school, do not renew your student membership.
Upon graduation, you are not eligible to continue your joint ASM/TMS student
or TMS student membership. This is why it is important that you apply for individual
membership in TMS via the Automatic Junior Membership program.
