Interested in Creating a New ASM/TMS Joint Student Chapter

Only students and faculty at colleges and universities located in the United States, Canada, and Mexico are eligible to petition for establishment of a joint student chapter. If a group of student members wishes to form a joint ASM/TMS student chapter at a college or university, they should follow these three steps:

  1. Elect a charter executive committee consisting of a:
  2. Create the chapter bylaws using the recommended format outlined in the Joint Student Chapter Handbook.
  3. Complete and submit the following documents, available from ASM or TMS, to the Joint ASM/TMS Student Chapter Program:

The submitted materials will be forwarded to both the ASM and TMS boards for approval at their next board meetings. Upon approval by both boards, the Joint Student Chapter Charter will be issued, and a start-up allowance check in the amount of $150 will be forwarded to the faculty advisor on behalf of the chapter. A new joint student chapter will also receive a joint banner for display.
