Montana Tech of the University of Montana & The University of Maryland Win 2003 Membership Challenge

Every year ASM & TMS recognize student chapters for increasing their membership through the month of October. Winning for the highest percentage of membership increase in 2003 was Montana Tech of the University of Montana and winning in the Most Creative category was the University of Maryland. Overall, 50 students were recruited during this year’s membership challenge, and we at ASM& TMS thank all of the chapters participating. Some samples of creative recruitment strategies are: department parties and picnics, high school visits, hosting a campus “ Engineering Day,” senior project research presentations, guest speakers, field trips, grad student seminars, web pages, bulletin boards, e-mail lists of other students, homecoming floats, and department newsletters.
