Delft Institute Recruits Highest Percentage of New Members in Student Chapter Contest

The TMS student chapter at the Delft Institute of Technology won the TMS Student Member-Get-A-Member Campaign with the highest percentage increase of all participating student chapters. Delft began their recruitment campaign on August 23, 1994, with seven student members and recruited 23 members by November, 1994, to achieve an increase of 329 percent.

Delft's student chapter will receive an award of $1,000 to be used for travel expenses for a representative of the chapter to attend either the Annual Meeting in Las Vegas, Nevada, or TMS/ASM Materials Week '95 in Cleveland, Ohio, during October. In addition, each chapter member will receive a TMS backpack.

A total of 256 student members were recruited by 60 student chapters worldwide during the campaign. Honorable mention goes to student chapters at the University of Florida, who recruited 25 new members for a 40 percent increase of their 62-member starting base, and the University of British Columbia, who recruited 19 new members for a 35 percent increase of their 55-member starting base. Each individual student member who recruited two or more student members will receive a TMS backpack.
