I have recently completed a list of activities and opportunities offered to TMS student members--specifically joint ASM/TMS student members--and I have to admit, I am somewhat amazed at the results. The list consists of both tangible and intangible benefits, from receiving two journals monthly to the opportunity to meet a future employer at a conference. Quite frankly, it is a long list. The question that comes to mind is, though, is it what YOU want? To answer this question is my goal for this academic year.

Additionally, a Focus-on-Students Luncheon is scheduled for Materials Week '96 in Cincinnati, Ohio, next month, which will serve as the first in a series of events held to identify the needs and wishes of students studying metallurgical and materials engineering.
So what is the value of your student membership? When we work together to create a program where all opportunities can be taken, it is invaluable!
