Employment News
According to the July 1996 issue of the National Association of Colleges and
Employers (NACE) salary survey, it has been a good year for new college
graduates looking to break into the job market. A strong economy brought an
increasing number of employers to college campuses, and these employers proved
that they will pay for the talent they seek; starting salary offers have
increased significantly for graduates in a wide varies of disciplines, both
technical and nontechnical. The largest increase among the engineering
disciplines went to computer engineers, jumping 7.8%; but, humanities and
social science graduates also fared well in the 1995-96 recruiting season
(e.g., psychology starting salaries rose by 6.8%).
