A User-Friendly Awards Program
You may have seen a new awards brochure hanging in the hallway of your materials science and/or metallurgical engineering department at school. It is simply titled The 1997-1998 TMS Student Awards Program. Take one, open it up, and see how easy it is to participate in the scholarships and contests this year. Several new elements have been implemented.
- Both North American and international students are eligible for the contests; however, all applicants must be TMS student members. Nonmember students may enclose a completed membership application with dues payment with their entry to become eligible.
- You can apply for up to three of the six scholarship programs by placing check marks on the bottom of the TMS scholarship application form. (No more filling out multiple forms!)
- You can modify an existing term paper or thesis to fit the criteria for the undergraduate or graduate paper contests. Just have your faculty advisor submit a cover letter with your entry.
- Applications and recommendation forms are available for download as Adobe Acrobat files through the World Wide Web and can be returned.
- All applications must be received at TMS headquarters before June 30. Don't be lateyour share of more than $40,000 is at stake!
