Unveiling the Career Resource Center for Materials Science and Engineering

At the 128th TMS Annual Meeting and Exhibition this month in San Diego, California, the Career Resource Center (CRC) for Materials Science and Engineering will formally debut. Products that will be available for review and for purchase include a fully interactive CD-ROM, a video, the updated career booklet, and the web site.

The primary mission of the CRC (accomplished through funding received from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation; the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical, and Petroleum Engineers; and TMS) is to assist students with their career search by exposing students to the fields of materials science and metallurgical engineering. The CRC assists in answering a host of commonly asked questions, such as

Providing reliable information about these fields and their career opportunities to allow for sound judgment choices is what the CRC expects to accomplish. The CRC will overcome both the lack of field awareness and the lack of materials science and engineering career information available.

Details on how to request and/or purchase CRC products for your university will be sent to materials science and engineering faculty this month. Stop by our booth in the TMS display area at the Annual Meeting or visit our web site at http://www.crc4mse.org. We are anxious to have your input on this new program.
