Invited Speaker: Angie Wellman, Associate Director, Student Life Multicultural Center, The Ohio State University
Cost: $30 for professional members; $20 for students

Organized by the TMS Diversity Committee, this event offers an opportunity for TMS members to network and discuss issues related to diversity and inclusion in the minerals, metals, and materials professions. The main focus of the breakfast presentation this year will be on expanding awareness of identity, including exploring topics related to gender, sex, race, ethnicity, and sexual orientation. 

Learning Outcomes:

• Define social identity, social group, privilege, target group, and agent group
• Recognize the commonalities and differences that exist among social groups
• Discuss examples of social identities that are important to our sense of self
• Assess how social identities play a role in our lived experiences

Tickets can be purchased through the TMS2018 registration form and include breakfast.

Show your support for colleagues who will be accepting awards from TMS and the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical, and Petroleum Engineers (AIME) at the 2018 TMS-AIME Awards Ceremony & Banquet. There is no cost to attend the awards ceremony to honor those individuals who are being recognized for excellence in their fields. If you would like to attend the banquet following the awards ceremony, however, you must purchase a ticket through the TMS2018 meeting registration form.
