I am greatly humbled and honored to receive the prestigious Mathewson Medal. Metallurgical and Materials Transactions is one of the most highly regarded journals in the field of metallurgy and I am thrilled that our paper was chosen as the most outstanding paper during the award period. Past recipients of this award include some of the founders of the modern science of physical metallurgy and I am truly overwhelmed and deeply honored to be listed among them. I would like to thank TMS for choosing our paper to receive this award. Of course none of this would have been possible without the outstanding work of my co-authors, and I am very grateful for their terrific work.

TMS was the gateway for my academic career and I will always be grateful to TMS for providing me with that opportunity. Attendance at TMS annual meetings always provides an occasion to gain new insights and refresh my intellect. However, the most satisfying aspect of TMS membership is witnessing young professionals obtaining that same opportunity. I am proud to be part of a great research team that has been recognized with this prestigious award.
