This article addresses modeling approaches for the electrochemical process of metal extraction. Several animations of mesoscale model results using "diffuse interface" methods are presented as follows:
• Bridge formation in a nanometer scale switch,
• Electrochemical deposition of metals from an unsupported electrolyte solution,
• Three-dimensional simulation of migration of an FeO layer in iron,
• A simulated reaction between TiCl2 and magnesium to produce titanium and MgCl2,
• The superfilling of trenches that were pre-treated with catalyst prior to copper plating in a PEG-Cl electrolyte at 0.25 V (experimental results together with simulation results).
