Job Role Summary
ExxonMobil Research and Engineering Company has an immediate opening for a Member of Technical Staff in the area of composite materials at its Corporate Strategic Research laboratory in Clinton, New Jersey. The successful candidate will have a broad background in materials science with core expertise in the structure and thermomechanical properties of polymer composites, including fiber-reinforced composites and nanocomposites.

ExxonMobil’s Corporate Strategic Re-search laboratory is a facility of over 200 scientists and engineers conducting fundamental research related to ExxonMobil’s Upstream, Downstream, and Chemical businesses. CSR features state-of-the-art analytical and support facilities, an international staff covering a broad range of scientific disciplines, and close ties with academic institutions and national laboratories. Its location in scenic western New Jersey provides high-quality public schools and convenient access to New York City, Princeton, and Philadelphia.

Job Role Responsibilities
The researcher will leverage advanced approaches in fundamental materials science including materials mechanics in order to elucidate the structure and the thermomechanical properties of compo-sites and thus provide science-based guidance for new hydrocarbon-based materials with targeted properties. The successful candidate will be expected to make substantial individual and collaborative contributions within multi-disciplinary, cross-functional teams.

Expected Level of Proficiency
A Ph.D. in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Physics, Chemistry, or a related field; and
A track record of high-impact, first-author publications and presentations.
Post-doctoral / Industrial research experience is preferred.
The successful candidate will be expected to significantly expand ExxonMobil’s knowledge-base in polymer-based composites.
