Zhaowen Wang is a professor of the Institute of Light Metals Metallurgy, Northeastern University, China. He received his M.S. degree from Northeastern University in 1985 and worked as an engineer at Shenyang Research Institute of Mining and Metallurgy after his graduation. In 1994, he began his Ph.D. study under the supervising of Zhuxian Qiu at Northeastern University, and obtained his Ph.D. in 1999. His research interests are focused on the fundamental research and engineering application in aluminum electrolysis, including waste heat recovery in aluminum electrolysis. Wang is the author or co-author of more than 200 scientific and technical papers, more than 20 patents, and two books on molten salts chemistry. His research work has been appraised in the form of several national awards, and also the 2016 TMS Light Metals Subject Award – Aluminum Reduction Technology.
