Control of Potline Scrubber & Fugitive Emissions for Aluminum Smelters Course
May 15–18, 2016 • Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
PLANT TOUR

A highlight of the Control of Potline Scrubber & Fugitive Emissions for Aluminum Smelters Course is a half-day plant tour at Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA)’s Al Taweelah Smelter (formerly EMAL). The tour will take place on the morning of Tuesday, May 17. The site visit will include:

  • A walk-through in potline 3 where EGA operates their flagship pot technology DX+ (>450 kA) in the world’s longest potline. During the visit EGA specialists will explain their environmental emission management, hooding management, and boosted suction system that gives them excellent results.
  • A walk-through in the potline 3 Gas Treatment Center (GTC), which is the largest of its kind in the world. You will also see the unique duct configuration that is specially designed to cool the exhaust gases to normal operating levels (<130 °C).
  • A visit to the control room in potline 1 and 2 where EGA will make some presentations
  • A walk-through in a GTC in potline 2 where you also will meet a seawater scrubber for SO2 control

Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to meet colleagues that work in these fields and test knowledge gained during classroom activities.

Please Note:
EGA requires tour participants to submit names and a copy of a current passport one week prior to the tour. TMS will contact registrants to coordinate getting pertinent information to EGA. According to EGA policy, cameras and photography are not permitted during the plant tour.

Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided by EGA at the hotel, so that tour participants can change into their PPE prior to plant arrival. TMS will contact registrants prior to the tour to collect sizes for boots, shirts, and pants. A safety introduction will also be included as a part of this tour.

The plant tour, transportation to and from the tour location, and transportation inside the plant are all included in the course registration fee. Please indicate whether you will be joining the tour by selecting the box when registering.
