MANUSCRIPT INSTRUCTIONS

A manuscript submission is encouraged, but not required, for presenters at the conference.

The following overview will assist authors with some of the most common questions about submitting a manuscript.

Deadlines
  • The manuscript submission deadline is February 1, 2016.
  • You will receive reviewer feedback by February 21, 2016.
If the reviewers request that revisions be made to your paper, you will receive a notification by e-mail that your manuscript is "accepted if modified". The deadline for a revised manuscript to be submitted will be in that notification.

Page Limit
Page limits are inclusive of all figures and references.

  • Contributed papers must not exceed 8 pages.
  • Invited papers must not exceed 10 pages.
  • Plenary papers must not exceed 12 pages.
Note: Extended abstracts will not be published. Papers should be a minimum of four pages.

Formatting
You should use the one-column template and instructions. Detailed instructions for the one-column format are available here.

Most importantly, you should format the paper using 12-point Times font, such as Times New Roman.
Your title should be formatted in 14-point Times font and in all capital letters.

For all proceedings manuscripts, please use these tips to avoid common formatting errors:

  • Margins should be 1" (25.4 mm) on all four sides.
  • The font should be a Times font, such as Times New Roman, with single line spacing.
  • The paper title should be entered in a 14-point bold font, centered, and in all capital letters, except for chemical symbols or trade names where lower-case letters are used.
  • Do not add page numbers or headers/footers to the top or bottom of the pages.
  • Check that all symbols and Greek characters appear correctly in the final PDF document.

Transfer of Copyright
TMS requires a transfer of copyright from the author or author’s employer prior to publication in the conference proceedings. A form has been created to assist with this transfer and is available on the TMS proceedings instructions webpage.

Acknowledgments
If your employer or funding agency requires that an acknowledgment appear in the manuscript, place it at the end of the paper just before the references section.

References
All proceedings manuscripts must include a references section. Each reference must include complete information about the source material.

Manuscripts that are not submitted in an acceptable format may be returned to the author to be corrected or removed from the final publication.
