TMS Michel Rappaz Wins 2014 Brimacombe Prize

Posted on: Nov 13 2014 Michel Rappaz, a professor at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in Lausanne, Switzerland, has been selected to receive the 2014 Brimacombe Prize. The Brimacombe Prize recognizes outstanding achievements in materials process engineering and is presented in memory of J. Keith Brimacombe, an innovative giant in the field of materials process engineering during the later quarter of the 20th century and a former president of TMS. This prize consists of both an artistic rendering and an award of $20,000 Canadian (approximately $17,500 U.S.).

Rappaz has been a TMS member for 25 years and was named a TMS fellow in 2014. He will accept his award at the 2015 TMS-AIME Awards Ceremony and Banquet, to be held March 17 at the TMS 2015 Annual Meeting & Exhibition. Friends and colleagues are invited to attend the awards ceremony to support Rappaz and other award winners. Tickets to the banquet portion of the evening can be purchased for $95 through the TMS2015 registration form.
