02/26 - TMS 2004 Annual Meeting & Exhibition Coming to Charlotte


Pittsburgh, PA – The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society’s (TMS) Annual Meeting & Exhibition is coming to the Charlotte Convention Center in Charlotte, NC, March 14-18, 2004.

Over 3,500 professional engineers and researchers will come from 59 countries to attend the 2004 TMS Annual Meeting & Exhibition in order to expand their knowledge through the over 1900 individual presentation that are scheduled in 54 technical symposia. The program will be comprised of six primary tracks including:

  • Advanced Materials
  • Electronic Materials
  • Extraction and Processing
  • Light Metals
  • Micro-and Nanoscale Technologies
  • Physical Metallurgy
  • Plus a special Hot-Topic Track—Building MSE Synergies.

TMS also is pleased to announce a TMS 2004 program special entitled: Materials Analysis: Understanding the Columbia Disaster. This Wednesday afternoon session will provide attendees the opportunity to learn directly from the engineers and scientists from the Materials and Processes (M&P) Team formed by NASA. This team supported the Columbia reconstruction efforts, provided factual data through materials analysis, and conducted experiments to uncover and validate the root cause of the accident. Discussions in this session will include:

One of the busiest locations at the TMS 2004 Annual Meeting & Exhibition will be the exhibit hall. There, attendees can view over 160 exhibiting company displays that showcase latest in metals and materials innovations in a ideal networking environment.
