11/7 - Aluminum Leaders to Caucus in 2006 at TMS Annual Meeting

(WARRENDALE, PA, USA)… Leaders from eight worldwide aluminum corporations are scheduled to meet in San Antonio, Texas, at the TMS 2006 Annual Meeting & Exhibition to discuss common problems in the aluminum industry. The plenary session, titled “The Aluminum Fabrication Industry: Global Challenges and Opportunities,” takes place March 13, 2006, at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. Top officials from Nichols Aluminum, Hydro Aluminium Deutschland GmbH, Aleris International, ARCO Aluminum, Novelis Corporation, Chinalco, Alcoa, and Secat will participate.

Subodh Das, President and CEO of Secat Inc., will moderate the session which will focus on turning challenges into opportunities in direct and continuous casting, rolling, and extrusion during the downstream process, from the cast house to the fabricated and engineered product. “We want our research and development (R&D) to be relevant and implementable to the aluminum industry otherwise it's ‘just a cost’ for the aluminum companies. We expect our chosen panelists--global business leaders--to tell us about their individual company needs and industry trends, challenges and opportunities for fruitful R&D in the global aluminum fabrication industry. This session will provide a bridge between business and technology to make our activities more relevant and yet intellectually challenging."
