On-Line Dues Renewal: A New TMS Member Service

This week, TMS launched a new web site that allows members a more convenient way to renew their memberships and journal subscriptions through the secure environment of TMS OnLine’s members-only sector.

To use the new service, go to the members-only sector, log in, and hit the renewal button in the main menu. The renewal form allows members to securely renew TMS membership, to update membership records, and to renew subscriptions to JOM, Journal of Electronic Materials, Metallurgical and Materials Transactions A&B, and other AIME journals. The on-line renewal form calculates the total cost of these activities and allows members to pay securely by credit card. The bill is customized based on membership status, previous account activity, and even nationality.

If you prefer to renew your membership and subscriptions through the mail, renewal notices have also been sent out. If you need any assistance in renewing your membership, you may contact membership customer service at 724-776-9000, ext. 241 or castello@tms.org.

TMS Accepting Nominations for Board of Directors Positions

This is a request for nominations for open positions on the Board of Directors beginning in 2003. The Nominating Committee is attempting to offer a greater number of candidates for these positions to ensure that they represent the total membership of TMS. We know you appreciate the importance of electing the best individuals to lead TMS, and we sincerely appreciate the time and effort that you will put into your selections for these positions on our Board.

At this time we are entertaining nominations for the following board positions: Vice President, Financial Planning Officer, Membership Development Director, and Programming Director. If you have any questions, please contact Gail Miller at TMS Headquarters at (724) 776-9000, ext. 238 or gailm@tms.org.

Short Courses Wanted: Put Your Knowledge and Experience to Work

TMS is seeking high-quality, learning-intensive Short Courses to promote education and development of current and future professionals. Courses can be offered in one or more of the following venues:

  1. Meeting-connected: Course proposals that have specific or society-wide appeal are developed for specific meeting sites at Annual, Fall, or Specialty Conference Meetings through interactions among members, technical committees, and the five division councils.
  2. Regional: TMS offers courses with a regional interest in a form similar to a meeting-connected course. Major centralized locations are chosen either for their technical connection or out of convenience. A strong promotional effort attracts appropriate attendees. TMS organizes the course, pays the presenter(s), makes travel arrangements, and facilitates all other arrangements. TMS also secures the site, arranges meals and breaks, provides audio-visual equipment, and handles duplication of course notes supplied by the presenter(s).
  3. Other: Based on benchmarking studies and previous TMS Member Needs Assessment Surveys, the TMS Continuing Education staff is always willing to explore alternative delivery systems for TMS continuing education courses. Such alternative systems include teleconference, video, audio, or computer-based methods.

In all cases, a lucrative and flexible Presenter benefit package is available. For more information, contact Christina Raabe at raabe@tms.org or 724-776-9000, ext. 212.

TMS 2001 Simply the Best Member Rewards Program Begins in January
