Alan Luo is professor, Materials Science and Engineering and Integrated Systems Engineering at The Ohio State University. Luo joined The Ohio State University faculty in 2013 as a professor in both materials science and engineering and in integrated systems engineering. Prior to this position, he was a GM Technical Fellow at General Motors (GM) Global Research and Development Center. GM recognized him with two John M. Campbell Awards for his fundamental research and three Charles L. McCuen Awards for research applications. Luo holds 17 U.S. patents and has authored or co-authored more than 180 technical publications. He
earned his doctorate in materials engineering from the University of Windsor.
A TMS member for more than ten years, Luo was named to the 2013 Class of Brimacombe Medalists for recognition of his achievements as a mid-career professional. He is also an elected Fellow of ASM International and SAE (Society for Automotive Engineers) International.
