Oleg D. Sherby Award

This award recognizes an individual, or small group of collaborators, who has made significant contributions to the understanding of the behavior of materials at high temperatures.

The award includes a cash component of $5,000 as well as a medal and a certificate. (If the award goes to a group of collaborators, the medal will go to the leader, however, all in the group will receive a certificate.).

Presentation of this award is supported by a gift to the TMS Foundation by Jeffrey Wadsworth of Battelle.

Criteria

  1. Must have an established record or research and publications in the field of high temperature behavior of materials.
  2. The work has had or will have a major impact on the understanding of the behavior of materials at high temperature.
  3. The award may recognize a single major insight or alternatively may recognize a significant body of work.
  4. The award will typically be given to an individual but could be given to a small group of collaborators.

How to Nominate

Submission Deadline:
April 1 of each year.

Please submit the following documents to complete the nomination process:

  1. Completed nomination form.
  2. Nominator's Supporting Statement: This statement is to be included within the principal nominator’s cover letter of endorsement. The supporting statement should outline the qualifications of the nominee for the specific honor/award. The nominator’s supporting letter should be no more than two pages.
  3. Current resume or curriculum vitae, no more than 5 pages.
  4. A minimum of two, maximum of five, letters of endorsement. Each letter should be no longer than one page. No more than one letter of endorsement may be from the same affiliation as the nominee. The nominator’s letter may be counted in the total number required.
